One afternoon, I received a call from an old client and friend who over the years had purchased a few pieces from my contemporary line of jewelry. She was in a bit of a panic as she had just purchased a lovely grey cashmere dress for a work function. She needed to be conservative at the office during the day but then festive and flashy for the evening soirees. We viewed my entire collection online, but just could not find that perfect statement piece that she had her heart set on. She grew more panicked as she explained that she would have little time to change throughout the day, had to stay within a strict budget and had less than a week to pull this all together. To help ease her frustration, I asked her to describe her vision for the ideal necklace. I began to draw what she was saying, hoping to capture the essence of what she was looking for. Next I asked her the colors she had envisioned and we agreed that not only did rusty orange, brown and smokey reds compliment her skin tone, but they would look absolutely smashing with the soft grey of the new dress. After looking through a few magazines to confirm the exact style she desired, I told her not to worry. I would create the perfect necklace to complement this outfit!
As I got to work, I realized how excited I was to create this special piece and how much I appreciated the discerning, artistic vision of this particular woman. I felt lucky that I was the one who was able to bring this to fruition and help make this complicated stressful day better for her. After a few days I had samples ready and she came into try them on with the dress. The first two she did not seem excited over. However, when she fastened the third to her neck, a huge smile broke over her face and she seemed flushed, vibrant and alive with happiness. As I helped her select shoes and handbags, I realized that this woman now had a whole new outlook. The difficult day she had been dreading was completely turned around because she knew she would not have to worry about her outfit. She could spend her time concentrating on other details, knowing she looked truly fantastic!
This story, among others, is the inspiration for my jewelry creations. I am always willing to work with customers to create that perfect, stunning statement piece that might only exist in yours dreams. It is my absolute pleasure to help make it a reality.
